Canadian Experience Class
Overview
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is for foreign workers with at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada in the past three years, looking to become permanent residents. This experience gives them an edge in the Express Entry pool, valued under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
Process:
Candidates go through the Express Entry system. They must create an online profile and receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
The CEC is perfect for temporary foreign workers and international students in Canada. It recognizes the Canadian work experience they’ve gained, offering a streamlined path to permanent residency.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for CEC, applicants must:
- Have 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in NOC skill type 0, A, or B within three years of applying.
- Meet language proficiency levels equivalent to CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs, or CLB 5 for NOC B jobs.
- Plan to live outside Quebec.
Applicants can apply while in Canada or within six months of leaving their Canadian job. Work experience gained through self-employment or as a full-time student does not count.
How to Apply for CEC:
- Obtain a Canadian work permit.
- Gain at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada.
- Ensure you meet all other eligibility requirements.
- Create an Express Entry profile.
