British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)
British Columbia, a highly sought-after Canadian province, offers a Provincial Nominee Program to attract immigrants worldwide. Successful candidates receive a British Columbia Provincial Nomination Certificate, expediting their application for a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa.
BC PNP Categories:
- Skills Immigration (including Express Entry)

BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS):
SIRS is an interactive system for selecting candidates for an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Candidates are scored based on several factors, with a total of 200 points available:
- Economic Factors: Job offer skill level (60 points), wage (50 points), employment location (10 points).
- Human Capital Factors: Work experience (25 points), education level (25 points), language proficiency (30 points).
British Columbia Express Entry Stream:
This new stream under the BC PNP aims to nominate 1,350 skilled applicants in 2015 for permanent residency, prioritizing their PNP and permanent residency applications.
Applicants must qualify under one of these BC PNP categories:
- International Post Graduates
- International Graduates
- Skilled Professionals
To enter the Express Entry pool, applicants need to be eligible for one of these federal economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class
Applicants must also meet language requirements, demonstrate financial stability, and submit Educational Credential Assessment results.
British Columbia PNP Strategic Occupations Stream:
Eligibility criteria include having a job offer from a British Columbia employer that can’t be filled by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Categories include:
- Skilled Workers (NOC levels 0, A, and B)
- Health Care Professionals
- International Graduates from Canadian post-secondary institutions
- Semi-skilled Workers in specific occupations
Pilot Project for International Post-Graduate Students:
This project targets students enrolled in Post Graduate Degree Programs in natural, applied, or health sciences. Eligible fields include Agriculture, Biological/Biomedical Sciences, Computer/Information Sciences, Engineering, Health Professions, Mathematics, Natural Resource Conservation, and Physical Sciences. Graduates can apply for Permanent Residency after completing their studies.
