Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)

Overview

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), is designed to strengthen Alberta’s economy. It targets skilled and experienced immigrants, offering them an Alberta Provincial Nomination Certificate to expedite their immigration process and achieve permanent residency in Alberta.

AAIP Immigration Streams:

AAIP includes several key immigration streams:

Alberta Express Entry Stream: This stream allows Alberta to nominate candidates from the federal Express Entry system. Candidates must receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Alberta and meet specific criteria, including an active Express Entry profile and a minimum CRS score of 300. Priority is given to those with Alberta job offers, Alberta education, or family ties in Alberta.
Strategic Recruitment Stream: This stream enables individuals to apply to AAIP without employer support and includes three categories:

Compulsory and Optional Trades Category: For tradespersons with an Alberta Trade Certificate, currently in Alberta with a valid work permit.
Engineering Occupations Category: For engineers, designers, and drafters with Alberta work experience in specific occupations.
Post-Graduate Worker Category: For those with a postgraduate degree from an Alberta institution, currently employed in Alberta on a valid work permit.

Employer-Driven Stream: Allows employers to nominate skilled workers for immigration. It includes:

Skilled Worker Category: For those with a full-time, permanent skilled job offer in Alberta.
International Graduate Category: For graduates from Canadian institutions with a full-time job offer in Alberta.
Semi-Skilled Worker Category: For temporary foreign workers in Alberta with a permanent job offer in a semi-skilled profession.

Self-Employed Farmer Stream: Targets individuals with farming experience and funds to purchase or develop a farm in Alberta.
