Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)
The Program
Replacing the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) which concluded on December 31, 2021, the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a fast-track Canadian immigration pathway. It enables employers in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces – New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia – to recruit foreign skilled workers for positions they can’t fill locally.
Program Features:
- AIP aids Atlantic Canadian employers in hiring foreign skilled workers seeking to immigrate to Atlantic Canada.
- Launched in 2017, AIP became permanent from January 1, 2022, following the closure of AIPP.
- AIP includes the Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP) for Level O, A, B occupations and the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP) for Level C occupations.
- Candidates must have a job offer from a designated employer and an individualized settlement plan.
- Employers offering jobs to candidates do not need to secure a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) under AIP.
- Candidates are connected with settlement service providers for assessment and planning.
- Employers must endorse the job offer before candidates apply for permanent residency.
- Immediate family members can accompany the applicant, with spouses eligible for an open work permit.
Program Requirements:
- Candidates need a job offer from a designated employer, an endorsement certificate, and a commitment to apply for permanent residency within 90 days of receiving a temporary work permit.
- Employers must be designated by the province and provide newcomer support.
- Applicants require an individualized settlement plan, a minimum of 12 years of education, and an Educational Credential Assessment.
- Language proficiency must meet or exceed CLB/NCLC level 4.
- At least one year of relevant work experience in the last three years is needed.
Application Components:
